I've come across some tracks I'd like to share with y'all, and also talk about some music that is upcoming, too. I've recently got a tonne of new albums so I'll be sharing some of the hidden gems in those in a future post.
I've spoken about Pink on here before, her single 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' is still one of my favourite songs of the summer so far. I'm mega excited for her album The Truth About Love to come out on September 17th. I heard that one of her tracks had leaked and so I decided to check it out. This is called 'True Love' and is a song about hating somebody so much that you must love them. 'You're the only love I've ever known, but I hate you, I really hate you, so much I think that it must be True Love.' I actually really like it, ha. So as I was enjoying this song, chuckling at how cheerfully miserable the lyrics are, another songstress comes in around the 2:40 mark. It couldn't be... No? She doesn't record music any more? But wait.. No, it sounds just like her!!! Oh my God, she was seen leaving a studio a couple months ago...!! NONE OTHER THAN MS. LILY ALLEN, GUYS! (She's married now, so is actually Lily Rose Cooper.)
So after choking on my cup of tea, I whacked the song on repeat and have been listening to it all day. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do, and hopefully Lily has gotten a taste of being in the studio again!
Christina Aguilera is making a come back with new single 'Your Body'. The single comes from her new studio album titled Lotus, which hasn't had an official release date yet but is expected later this year. The chorus of the song consists of 'All I wanna do is fuck your body, tonight's your lucky night, I know you want it.' You know, really high-brow stuff. I expected a big club smash, I have no idea why. I'm not saying that it's a bad track, but to launch a fresh album campaign on this seems a bit foolish to me. It's no 'Dirrty', 'Candyman', or 'Carwash'. In fact I would describe it as more of an album track than lead single. But I could be wrong, there could be some hot remixes. (As was the case with Little Mix's 'Wings' single.)
I predicted back in July that Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen would have a big summer hit on their hands. Now Ms Jepsen is back with new single 'This Kiss' from her album (which is also out on September 17th!) Kiss. It's not as immediately catchy as 'Call Me Maybe' and I didn't find it to be anything special upon first listen, but after a couple spins I can't get this song out my head & I'll imagine that this will do pretty well. Have a listen for yourself :)
Miley Cyrus is trying to convince us all that she's not Hannah Montanna anymore & is all growed up. Not that I needed any convincing, I loveeeeed 'Can't Be Tamed' and was disappointed it didn't do as well as it should have. 'Liberty Walk' is also very good, for those of you who care. Anyway, while we're waiting for her to whack out a new studio album & single (which has been promised before the year is out), I came across an awesome video of her covering James Shelton's beautiful song 'Lilac Wine', have a listen I promise you'll be surprised! Her vocals are just... Amazing.
(What do you think?)
I had fears that after she was done with her Femme Fatale campaign she would disappear into the comforts of her family life & we'd never see or hear from her again. But then she signed up to be a judge on US X Factor, so I felt a little more at ease. I'm talking, of course, about the legendary Britney Spears. Having had no new material (or whispers of studio activity) from Ms Spears since March of 2011, I was starting to fear she had thrown the towel in & was focusing instead on TV. But then a series of tweets from Wil.I.Am revealed that they had recorded a new track together for his album #Willpower. I felt my prayers had been answered! A release date for the album is still not public, but I could sleep easy knowing new Britney material would be with us sooner, rather then later. And then, Britney tweeted:
Can't wait for y'all to hear @iamwill's next single featuring me. Coming very soon. Stay tuned people....And then I died.
